Sundar Lama
Before fine art I was very fascinated by tattoo art and I was a student of management back then. Once I met a friend who was practicing tattoo art. In order to learn more on art I started visiting art galleries. Later I searched for an institution which provided art education. That's s how I got into Nepal Fine Art College. I am very excited and concerned by the impact art can create to an individual. Art created a profound impact on me immediately I enrolled into fine art college, where I got equipped with the skills and academic aspect of fine arts. Today , I realise to know that merely learning skill is not enough to express oneself and creative experiences and imagination.

I mostly observe and research on human behavior and their surroundings. Here at Nardevi the surroundings that I am in very much have a root in the ancient cultural continuation, the situation of contemporary Nepal. I use this observation and research as my methodology and incorporate carious cultural motifs, introducing the philosophical aspect in my art works. This is how I metaphysically explore the creative dimension. This exploration expanded even more in my master level art education. Today I trust my works stands on its own as an individual identity from other fellow artists. However, I use various significant elements which manifest the “Nepaliness” in my work. Exploring his creative identity through installation and performance art.
He says : I am always happy to be around theatres, it adds colours to my life. I have collaborated with many artists but Collaborating with foreign artists from Bangladesh and japan was an eye opener to me. Those experiences on creating has changed me and I prefer to call myself a pluralist : who believes in initiating conscious experimentation by merging various genres of art such as performance, installation, video art and ofcourse painting as well.
