Fret is an instrumental trio from Nepal, creating new forms of music, furnishing fusion grooves in an evolved manner blending traditional and ethnic music with an influence of eastern classical, western music and world music through Sarangi, Flute and Newari drums. The trio’s vision is to explore their instruments in an innovative way and exhibit it in their style. The trio constitutes three individual artists from diverse musical backgrounds combined together to form a distinct world music genre.
Nowadays, we can see our young Generations are getting detached from their own origin, of which music is a dominant aspect. To keep the ambience of Bhaktapur alive, music should be understood and learned. So,in order to understand anything, we have to spread knowledge about it. So the most effective way of doing so is to give it an academic direction. ‘Ambience of Bhaktapur’ is an initiation designed by Fret with a motive to make the music and musical instrument known among students from their school level. We believe in giving musical knowledge about music from school level will develop an interest to learn music and even encourage them to pursue music as a profession too. Through this initiative we firmly believe in promoting our music and musical instruments into the world music scenario.That is why we are taking initiatives through schools of Bhaktapur.

They have recently released their first debut album 'MOKSHYA' literally translates as liberation which has eight songs. Fret has been performing their music in different local events, concerts, charity event and international collaboration. Young Generations of musicians having audacity to re - organise melody from traditional to new age. Fret as played their music at echoes in the valley, Dewar's, project NAADHE , radio photo patrika sathi etc. Fret has evolved themselves with open willingness to collaborate with artists of all forms and diverse art mediums as performance art, painting, installation etc
